May 1st start of trip

5-1-11
We left Lakewood Ranch about 8:30 in the morning, a half hour later than expected, however, we made to Ft. Lauderdale in 3.5 hours.  Had to stop at a WalMart to buy Lenny a hat since he realized that he left it at home.  Since we had an hour and half before we could board the ship, we drove to that famous Florida east coast mecca, the Festival Flea Market where we had knishes for lunch and Geri bought some costume jewelry and makeup  for our trip.

We arrived at the ship and found it to me large than we had imagined with 2700+ passengers, the ship is full.  We thought we were drunk when we got to the 10th deck where our cabin is located since half the 10th deck has rooms marked 1100 something and half has rooms marked 1000 something.  When we asked, there was no good explanation.  Our cabin is nicer than the Century cabin we had in October but the entry to the cabin safe requires a deep knee bend to access it.  We were surprised to find that they placed us at a table for two for dinner.  Tomorrow, we should be at a table for eight.  We’ll see if we like that any better.  The evening show was very good and we enjoyed our first dinner on board. We had to reset our clocks one hour ahead which is the ship’s way of getting onto European time by the time we arrive in Barcelona in about two weeks from now.  We did walk over 10000 steps for the day which is our minimum goal which is equal to 5 miles; no elevators and 15 decks. Of course, we already have computer hook-up problems.  We can receive but not send.
